Harklinikken is a specialised Hair Regrowth Clinic that was founded 26 years ago in Denmark, just around the corner from Copenhagen’s Royal Palace. In 1994, Lars Skjoth, Founder and Head Scientist, made a revolutionary discovery that enables the successful treatment of androgenetic hair loss in both women and men.

Since then, Harklinikken’s proven results and reputation for treating hair loss effectively and affordably has led to explosive client growth. The treatment has been credited for re-growing hair in over 100,000 clients worldwide. Amongst Harklinikken clients are international celebrities, royalty, A-list entertainers and business barons.

Harklinikken is currently present in 27 locations across Denmark, Iceland, Germany, USA and Dubai, with over 160 employees globally. A research team of 20 scientists is based out of Tampa Bay, Florida.

Hair Regrowth Program

The Harklinikken Hair Regrowth Program includes daily application of a customized Extract to the scalp and the use of specialized shampoos, conditioners, hydrating and styling products designed specifically for the treatment of thinning hair. Harklinikken products contain no artificial colour, perfume, silicone, sls/sles, petrochemicals, parabens or other known problematic preservatives.

Extract – the cornerstone of Harklinikken’s hair loss program – consists of derivatives from cow’s milk and natural occurring amino acid complexes, sterols, tannins and fatty acids from botanicals which have been combined in a 3-step fermentation process, proprietary to Harklinikken. Each Extract is individually tailored and continually adjusted throughout the program, to ensure you achieve the most optimal result.

During the initial consultation, one of Harklinikken’s hair loss specialists will assess scalp, hair, and hair loss condition in order to determine candidacy. If candidacy is approved, the hair specialist will develop a customized program to address your specific needs. Macro photos of the thinning areas will be taken in order to capture the baseline and will be used to monitor progress throughout the program.

Follow-ups with a hair specialist take place every 3-4 months to discuss the program, assess progress and to make tailored adjustments in order to optimize results. They will continue to offer personalized product recommendations and guidance to help maintain results.

Most clients begin to notice a visible change in hair density in 4 months, but some may notice it as early as 2-3 months. Daily compliance is key to achieving and maintaining these results.

Hair Transplantation

Harklinikken has developed unique hair transplantation techniques using the principles of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Hårklinikken’s highly sophisticated FUE techniques allow for each hair follicle (up to 7,000) to be removed from the donor site, and transplanted one by one with minimally invasive instruments. Skin heals very rapidly and results are seen after 6-8 months.

Harklinikken has also developed the more specialised “LHFUE” procedure, or Long Hair Follicular Unit Extraction, where long hairs are extracted from the donor site and placed in between existing long hairs. This technique is very popular, as the client does not have to shave the hair off before the procedure.

The unique type of hair transplantation Harklinikken offers is an option for clients not suitable for Extract treatment, whose cases are too far advanced.

In 2015, Harklinikken introduced ‘Follysis’, a proprietary state-of-the-art imaging system used to measure hair density. Harklinikken is the first hair loss facility to use this technology, which allows for closer monitoring of clients’ hair regrowth results over the course of treatment.

Extract treatment has been proven to result in improvements in hair quantity and quality of between 30-95% for suitable candidates – figures reflected by comparing initial hair density to continuous improvements throughout treatment.

Follysis uses an advanced database with highly advanced imaging techniques to provide data for hair regrowth analysis. It can be used to baseline hair loss to date and measure change in hair quality & quantity over time by analyzing:

lNumber of follicular units – how many hair follicles are active
lHair density – number of hairs per square centimeter
lHair quality – how much does each hair increase in diameter

This pioneering hair restoration measurement technique is set to change the future of hair loss treatment.

Non Genetic Hair Loss
This type of hair loss can be caused by stress, malnutrition, anaemia, scalp disorders, bad water quality, hair product chemicals, hair straighteners, hair extensions, hair pulling and more. Hårklinikken’s treatments have proved to be very efficient for this kind of hair loss.

Mild androgenetic alopecia (hair loss)
This is the most common type of hair loss for men and women and is also known as hereditary hair loss. At this stage, the hair follicles are still active and we are able to reverse the hair loss process, improve the hair quality and stabilize the hair.

Severe androgenetic alopecia (hair loss)
It is also known as hereditary hair loss. This category of hair loss is more common for men but also occurs with women, and typically, hair transplantation would be recommended, but only if the client is a good candidate for such.

Hair loss caused by health conditions and/or medication
Clients suffering from a disease that is directly or indirectly causing hair loss are normally not good candidates for treatment and are often referred to another specialist outside the realm of Harklinikken.
