“Never lose hope in yourself.”

Hi, could you introduce yourself in a few words?
I am Ali Bader Al-Ramzi, a Kuwaiti squash player at Al-Yarmouk Sports Club and the national team of Kuwait. I started playing squash at the age of 10 and have represented Kuwait in foreign championships plus many local and international achievements.

Tell us about your education:
I hold a Bachelor degree in Media from Kuwait University.

What is it exactly that you do?
As well as playing squash, I’m an employee in the General Authority for Youth Department of Public Relations and Information.

What got you interested in what you’re doing?
I learned the game of squash through my father. He was a former player and had been taking me to the Yarmouk Club since childhood. In the first tournament I participated in (under 12 years) I got second place and so began my passion for the game.

Tell us your journey to where you have reached today. How was the initial struggle?
One of the main difficulties I face is the lack of full-time game. This is because the sport is considered a hobby in Kuwait, not professional. Also the lack of adequate support material – media and psychological.

How has been the help of your family in what you are doing? Were they supportive since the beginning?
My family was the first supporter for me in my career through encouragement and advice. They help me solve problems.

What are some of your hobbies?
Shopping and going to the cinema.

What are some of your top achievements?
My most prominent achievements are the first classification locally, winning the Gulf Cup and the bronze medal in the Asian Games.

What are your plans or goals for the future?
My future after retiring involves the field of training to transfer my experience to future generations.

How did it feel to be chosen for this award?
I am very happy and proud to be considered for this award. It is a great honor and I thank those in charge of it.

Your message for other young and talented people out there:
If anyone has a dream and wants to achieve it, my advice is to trust in himself, to have faith in his abilities, and never listen to the voices that doubt him.

Tell us about a dream that you would like to fulfill or make it a reality:
My dream is to participate in the Olympic Games because it is considered the largest championship for any athlete.
