Episode: 9
Introduce yourself briefly?
I find myself a girl of fantasies. I love music and dancing. In my head I live in my own music video. I’m inspired by the 80’s and the 90’s, I’m still stuck there. You can call me a city girl; I enjoy big cities with lights and crowds. I appreciate a good burger, and respect sushi.
What are you currently doing?
I’m a full-time information specialist, and skipping is my passion. It’s my muse and an outlet for the negative energy
How did you get interested in Skipping and why?
I guess corona introduced us to each other. In 2020 as we were all in despair over the pandemic, It really caught my attention as I was struggling to commit to a home workout that keeps my body moving. I was drawn by the combination of footwork and music in those first skipping videos that came through my way on Instagram. It just clicked in my head. I felt the connection, I was literally like (wow I like that. I want to do that). Rope skipping has it all for me. I finally found something that would make me move and stay in shape while I’m actually having fun. The fun part was crucial to me as I can easily get bored.
What makes you smile when you get up in the morning?
My kids. I’m always happy to see my kids in the morning. We hug and cuddle and that makes me smile.
What is that one book or movie that has influenced you the most?
Since I’m a huge 90’s rom/coms fanatic I’d say Sleepless in Seattle. How 2 people who live in different cities and never met could find a connection that is beyond distance. It’s magical, I’m dreamy like that, I guess. the movie made me fall in love with New York City, Lucky for me I got to visit it twice.
What are your goals for 2022?
Expand my Jump Ropes brand. I also want to Create a jump rope community in Kuwait where people meet and skip together and learn from each other. Work harder and improve my skipping skills is like an infinite goal to me as there is still a lot to learn and experience. In addition, Travel for sure.
What’s your favourite spots to skip?
The roof where I feel free under the sky. It’s really my meditation spot.
What accomplishments are you most proud of and how did you achieve it?
The launch of my own collection of Jump Ropes of course. Starting my own business and gaining the trust of the customers by providing the best quality of ropes is definitely an achievement like no other to me. Every time I look back at my skipping journey and my humble beginning, I feel so proud of the level I’ve reached today. Managing time between my family, work, and my passion and watching this passion grow into a business has shown me what a strong woman I am. Two years ago, when I first held a jump rope in my hand, I didn’t realize the possible opportunities that it would bring through my way. I’m proud and grateful.
What are some of the benefits of skipping?
Skipping is an amazing cardio. You can use it as a warm up or a straight workout session. The fact that it burns more calories faster than other cardio makes it so efficient. Skipping for 15 minutes daily will definitely have a huge impact on your overall fitness, health and coordination. It Builds bones density and strengthens your stamina. Let’s not forget that it guarantees access to workout anytime anywhere as it is a small tool that you could carry everywhere. Last but not least, the fun and joy that lighten your mood while jumping is like no other feeling. It’s a true stress relief.
What is your dream spot to skip?
That would be the Times Square in NYC. I love everything about this city. The lights, the vibes, and the fact that it’s the city that never sleeps.
