From TV shows like Hawaii Five-O to more movies than one can name, Hawaii has long been heralded as ‘Paradise’. With year-long average temperatures between 70 and 80F, this semi-tropical island sees only about 90 days of rain a year. Whether you enjoy the busy beautiful beaches of Waikiki, trek the lush green jungles, or take a road trip to the northern side of the Island to enjoy the quiet and serene beaches up north, this place is indeed paradise.
#1 the MUST see – Pearl Harbor. It is open to the public and free admission to see the USS Arizona Memorial. Currently it is closed for renovations, but will reopen in fall 2019. It is a humble reminder of the brave men and women who died to protect freedom. Be sure to get there early as the free tickets run out and are given on a first-come, first-served basis. https://www.nps.gov/valr/index.htm
#2 the MUST eat – La Mariana Sailing Club. Nestled on the shores of Keehi Lagoon in Honolulu sits La Mariana Tiki Bar and Restaurant. La Mariana serves as a historic reminder of the old days of Hawaii and has collected from many of the beautiful and most famous tiki-themed restaurants of the past. This place is extremely busy so reservations are definitely required. http://www.lamarianasailingclub.com
#3 the MUST shop – Gift shops are everywhere, but for that special gift head right over to Royal Hawaiian Center. More than a collection of international luxury brands and unique island boutiques, it has The Royal Grove, Waikiki’s historic coconut grove, in the heart of Royal Hawaiian Center. https://www.royalhawaiiancenter.com
#4 the MUST stay – Just one block away from Waikiki beach is the Hilton Waikiki Resort. With unobstructed ocean views, and every amenity known to man, this is a fantastic place to stay during your visit to Paradise. It received the 2018 Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and always places in top ten lists every year.
