Hi, could you introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Mohammad Bin Hasan. My life mission is to ask meaningful questions to myself and others, encouraging continuity of expressing and growing through mindful movement.

Tell us about your education:
I graduated from Western Sydney University as an Electrical Engineer. I have gained my position in the Dean’s List of Excellence for the final year project that contributed to the next generation of technology, 5G. I continue to study health with OPEX Coaching Institute.

What is it exactly that you do?
My governmental job is that of a preventive maintenance electrical engineer. However, I am learning, applying and teaching ways to move via my personal training business, WarriorActs. I do that through the ANIMAL FLOW discipline. This encourages us to go back to primal moves with fluidity of movement by moving opposite sides of the body together in a functional pattern. Also, I apply these methods into my part-time adventure guide role in Oman with Husaak and caving rescue trainees. Taking people to the wild and going to the depth of the land and walking in long stretches on Arabian land aids them, as well as me, to remember how to adopt from our land and how the land shaped our ancestors. In summary I believe that movement is a way of expression and I encourage and teach movement as a way to express ones true self.

What got you interested in what you’re doing?
My history of being a heavy child and experiencing different sports. Throughout my childhood as a heavy child, there was a culture of only looking good. Sport was to either look lean or lose fat but never for correcting posture or a way of expression. During my adulthood I have done eight years of MMA (mixed martial arts), 1 year of rugby union in Australia, 1 year of handball in Australia, ultra running (RunKuwait in 2013 covering 250km in 5 days), and 3 years of competitive crossfit in Kuwait (being in Battle of the East as a team member for 2017 and 2018). I noticed that injuries are high and competitive participants of these sports don’t sustain good healthy living later in their life. During a trip to Miami, I met a new culture of movers where they focus on primal moves like squatting, running and walking, allowing connecting tissues to function. It is not competitive but focuses on utilizing all joints and moving the body in all directions gaining mobility of strength in all ranges of movements possible for the body. When I came back to Kuwait I took an Animal Flow course and started applying Methodology of Anatomy training into WarriorActs workouts. The aim is to live longer, utilize your body and express your abilities through movement.

What makes you unique or special in what you are doing?
What makes me unique is that I utilize the ancient knowledge of how feelings are connected to the ability of movement. Science shows the connectivity of the nerve system, fascia and muscles together. So, a journey into WarriorActs is really a journey into reclaiming the body’s abilities and through it, unblocking the mind and heart. In the Animal Flow practice we flow effortlessly using body weight, this can only be done through this practice. Many ancient teachings talked about the connection between feelings and body health. In WarriorActs we approach the person as a whole and train not only the body but emotions and the mind too.

Tell us your journey to where you have reached today. How was the initial struggle?
Now I am a freelancer at the Burrow Life Gym and expanding the culture of movement through COMMUNITY FLOW. Community flow is a tour around GCC to expand awareness of Animal Flow and raise to the surface the unique invdividuals in field movement in the region. My initial struggles were finding a place to practice movement training. It is a new concept so crossfit gyms did not recognise it and other gyms did not understand it. To this day it is still a question mark in peoples’ heads but it is slowly changing. Also, society did not accept females doing this movement and males rejected it because it was not useful to reach ‘look good’ shape. In terms of hiking and caving, people would say “what is the use?” or “waste of time and money” but with each day and each trip they come with me with Husaak and they see and feel the change.

How has been the help of your family in what you are doing? Were they supportive since the beginning?
My family is supportive of whatever makes me happy. My dad, however, is always supportive to move. He encouraged me to find my happy movement. Coming from a black belt in three different martial arts he saw the benefit of this new approach to fitness and health.

Who are your top 3 heroes and why?
My top heroes are people alive today. Dan Millman, an author, Olympic gymnast and coach of gymnastics team because he is a living example of living well values. Jody Gall, my mentor and crossfit coach in Australia because he went through different sports that were not easy for him to do well. However, he did well because he put in the effort needed to achieve excellence. Throughout his journey he found his passion in crossfit and in enhancing the quality of peoples’ lives through it. Cameron Shane, because he made something new out of different sports and called it Budokon. He is living life as it should be lived, expanding and exploring human potential of movement and awareness every day.

What are some of the challenges you are facing in your field and how are you overcoming them?
The challenges I went through were more personal and opposite from society. There were boundaries on how to move certian ways. In Animal Flow we imitate animals and that made people want to laugh. However, opposite to this is that primal moves actually express the strength and mobility of the body. It is actually how you would move in the wild.

What advice or mentorship made a difference in your career?
I would say there are two people that made a difference and continue to do so. Jody Gall, he mentors me by always encouraging mindful questions. It started with “what is your purpose in life?” Also , Ali Husaak. Working as an adventure guide with him I learnt a lot. Most importantly, “leadership is uniting people to serve one goal” and that makes miracles.

How would your friends describe you?
My friends describe me as always innovative in movement, having contemporary ways to look into social, health and relationship issues; a researcher of truth in emotions and motion.

What are some of your hobbies?
My career is my hobby. In addition, I love growing plants.

What are some of your top achievements?
Running 250km with team RunKuwait 2013. Also, establishing WarriorActs and bringing culture of movement to Kuwait.

What are your plans or goals for the future?
The plan is to make Kuwait a centre of movement knowledge, where people would come to visit me and other Kuwaitis who are experts in correcting movements and creating new ways to move the human body. A bigger goal is to empower other young Arabs in GCC to gain knowledge and practice it and to make the region a leader in the area of human movement.

How did it feel to be chosen for this award?
It makes me feel appreciated with a sense of achievement.

Your message for other young and talented people out there:
Leading is believing in your goals. Don’t wait for the perfect moment, start and be consistent. Most of all have integrity in what you say and do.

Tell us about a dream that you would like to fulfill or make it a reality:
Having a movers space where people can come and practive this new way of movement. Also, to innovate new ways of movement that allow people to elevate their human potential.
