The Regency Hotel Kuwait Announces New Appointments and Promotions

Newness and freshness best describe the new year’s start at The Regency Hotel Kuwait, with the announcement of new appointments and promotions to the executive management team. The new management team brings expanded knowledge, new professional skills and greater international experience to The Regency Hotel.

In late 2018, Otto Kurzendorfer was appointed as General Manager for the hotel. His career spans three decades and three continents, with stints in Dubai, Shanghai and with global hotel giants, as Kempinski, IHG and Starwood. In addition, Sandeep Thekkil has taken on a new role at The Regency Hotel Kuwait after being promoted from Director of Rooms and Revenue to Executive Assistant Manager. Thekkil brings to his new role a wealth of 16 years’ experience in steering operation, revenue management and business development functions in the hospitality sector.

New appointments were made elsewhere, too at The Regency Hotel Kuwait. Khaled Harb has been appointed Marketing Director brining a solid retail background of 14 years in various fields of marketing Kuwait based. Moreover, Michel Gesthuizen joined as the new Director of Food and Beverage. Michel brings with him 10 years of extensive experience in the food & beverage industry, including conventions and banqueting. As part of the new change, Ayman Al Bedewi was hired as Director of Engineering and is responsible for overseeing the operational maintenance of the hotel. Ayman has previously worked for 18 years at luxury hotels in Jordan including Fairmont, Kempinski, and Mövenpick. In addition, Fouad Noufal was appointed as the Director of Conference and Event Sales. Fouad has a total of 10 years’ experience in luxury hotels, mainly Rosewood and Kempinski. Finally, Mrs. Inge Bouwmans has recently joined, as Front Office Manager, to become an integral part of the new team and ensure efficient operation of the hotel’s front office.

The new executives bring more than 100 years of combined leadership experience to the hotel management team. They will hopefully identify new potential opportunities and will lead to more refined strategies and a focused plan for achieving them.
