Hassan Al-Attar is a young and upcoming singer from Kuwait. Five years ago he won first place in an inter-state school opera competition in the USA. Since then, he’s been building his career as a singer and attracting fans from all over the world.
Please introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Hassan Al-Attar, a Kuwaiti singer/songwriter.
Tell us about your education.
I went to high school in USA and I’m currently doing my second year of engineering.
How and when did you know you wanted to be a singer?
Well, I started singing before I could talk and was listening to ‘Om Kalthoum’ and singing along ever since I can remember.
How did you get your start in singing?
I performed for the first time at the age of 9 and released my first single in 2016. At 17 I was given many chances to showcase my talent and I am grateful for it.
What has been the biggest challenge for you?
The ongoing fear of releasing a song people won’t like as our market keeps evolving.
Who are the singers that inspire you?
All creative and talented artists who put effort into their work inspire me. I grew up listening to everyone and everything I could get my hands on. Music was more than just a passion of mine, it was almost an obsession.
What is your favourite thing about singing?
The feeling of the lyrics as I sing them.
What are the hardest things about singing?
Growing my vocal abilities and talent on a full-time engineering student’s schedule.
What goals do you hope to accomplish this year?
I am very focused with both my career and studies.
What advice would you give to young aspiring singers?
Be true and real to your music and to yourself.
What are you currently working on?
It’s Kuwait’s national month so I have a few national songs coming out soon.
What are some of your hobbies?
Horse riding and travelling.
What is your favourite travel destination and why?
I think the USA because of the memories I have there.
What’s your favourite food?
I would go with sushi, always and forever.
Name three things on your bucket list?
I’m still working on that!
Which three songs are you listening to on repeat at the moment?
I’m putting the final touches on my album and while working on my songs I don’t listen to music much.
Is there a film that has stayed with you?
No, I don’t think so.

My fans are the reason I am doing this.

It surprises many that I just turned 21 this year. Maybe that can pass for a fun fact!
